Quality of Life

It would be difficult to imagine a more spectacular community to live in; Haines Junction’s proximity to the spectacular landscape of the Kluane National Park and Reserve, the abundant business opportunities it offers and many recreational facilities contribute to an exceptional quality of life.

Community facilities include an arena, curling rink, swimming pool, outdoor basketball court and skateboard park, community library with public Internet access, youth centre, and a community hall.

Back country and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice-fishing and glacier tours are on the doorstep of the community in the winter months.  Summer brings with it wildlife viewing, camping and hiking; outdoor activities are endless.

St. Elias Community School offers kindergarten to Grade 12 and the Haines Junction campus of Yukon College offers full-time academic upgrading programs and delivers a variety of continuing education courses.
