The Selkirk First Nation people are Northern Tutchone as are the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun and the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation.
Trade along the Yukon River took place between First Nations, in what is now referred to as Fort Selkirk, where the Hudson’s Bay Company set up their trading post. Today, the heritage site is jointly by the Selkirk First Nation and the Yukon Government.
The Selkirk First Nation cultural centre is situated within Pelly Crossing and is a replica of Fort Selkirk’s Big Jonathan House.
