Quality of Life

There are 802 (June 2012) friendly and engaging people living in the Town of Watson Lake, all of whom take pride in its impressive choice of activities, abundant wilderness, eclectic history, and rich Liard First Nations heritage.

Watson Lake provides a balance of services that promotes a healthy quality of life and economic prosperity in a responsible manner. From parks and recreation to transportation, clean drinking water or waste management, the Town of Watson Lake works hard to care for its community members.

The community is also working to achieve a thriving business sector while keeping true to its small town atmosphere and positive community development through their Strategic Plan for Economic Revitalization initiative.

"Watson Lakers are an active community; the recreational facilities surpass anything in southern communities of the same size; a hockey and curling arena w/c artificial ice, squash courts and much more."

There is a heated swimming pool for summer use, waterslide, skateboard park, golf course, and a ski hill (with rental services).

Watson Lake lies within a spectacular natural environment.  Clean air, clean lakes and 96 kilometres of multipurpose trails surround the town.  Summer months bring with it endless outdoor activities such as, hunting, fishing, hiking, and boating.

Watson Lake also offers many conveniences:

  • Automotive Services
  • Airport (runway capable of supporting a 737 aircraft)
